Beverly Park Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) Dissipates Storm Runoff

On the morning of Friday, February 7, 2020, a heavy rainstorm inundated portions of Beverly Park, where renovation work was recently performed. In addition to providing recreational opportunities, these renovations are designed to retain, distribute, and infiltrate stormwater runoff. By doing so, they decrease flooding downstream, help to improve water quality in local streams, and contribute to compliance with the Borough’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit.

The storm on February 7 was a significant rain event. Following the storm, the surface water slowly dissipated over the span several hours, which indicates that the stormwater systems are working as planned. Some minor erosion was observed as a result of this storm, but the site contractor returned on Tuesday, February 11 to repair the affected areas. Establishment of turfgrass in the spring is expected to prevent future erosion.
