Trash & Recycling

Camp Hill Borough is  currently contracted with Penn Waste for the Borough’s curbside trash collection and recycling service.   Please contact Penn Waste directly to establish service and any issue regarding your bill.  Trash service with the contracted provider is required for all single-family homes.  By ordinance, unpaid fees with Penn Waste may be subject to a lien on the property.   Commercial buildings and larger apartment buildings may use Penn Waste or may chose their own waste hauler.   Normal trash collection in the Borough occurs Monday thorough Friday starting at 7 a.m.  Penn Waste is closed for specified holidays.  In these instances trash collection is usually delayed by 1-day, therefore Monday’s trash is collected on Tuesday, and so forth, ending the week with Friday’s trash being collected on Saturday.

Trash may set out curbside only 1-day before the designated pickup day.

Please contact Penn Waste directly at 1-866-575-8720 for the following needs:

  • Establish/Terminate Trash & Recycling Service
  • Payments & Billing Questions
  • Complaints & missed pick-ups

Please contact the Borough Office at (717) 737-3456 for the following needs:

  • Determine your trash/recycling pickup day
  • Pickup a Recycling Container
  • Setup/Purchase Tag-A-Bags (must also notify Penn Waste)

More information such as the current year collection calendar and the Recycling Guidelines can be found on Penn Waste’s Resource Page for Camp Hill Borough.

Here are some general trash & recycling guidelines from the Penn Waste website:

  • Containers may not exceed 60 lbs.
  • Large items that are too heavy to be lifted by two people will not be accepted.

Additionally, Penn Waste provides a curbside yard waste pickup day on the 3rd Saturdays in April and October as well as a designated Saturday for Christmas tree pickup.  Please have all items placed curbside before 6:30 a.m. on the Saturday for pickup and read the instructions on how to prepare the yard waste for curbside pickup.  Note that yard waste in bags will not be picked-up and there is a list of excluded items such as grass clippings, stumps, dirt and stones.

Yard & Woody Waste:

Throughout the year Yard & Woody Waste can be taken to Composting & Mulch Facility at the Public Works Center.  These services are provided only to Borough residents and property owners therefore ID and verification may be requested.  Please check the Public Works section of the website to see the hours and operations of the Composting Facility they are subject to change seasonally and based on other factors such as weather and the site’s capacity.
